Orana Park

On Tuesday Ts and Sh(My class) went on a trip to Orana Park.  We learnt a lot there lik how climate change and global warming are affecting not only humans but wildlife as well.  Some animals may benefit from it but most of them aren't.  This is an emergency that should be noticed and find solutions straight away.  But this topic is for another blog post.  Here are some facts that I have found interesting and I hope that you find it interesting too.

There was a fact that fascinated me.  It was that Kiwi's can get killed very easily by a simple bite.  You know how cats pick up their babies if a cat or a dog did that to a kiwi it may, in fact, kill them.  So if you ever see a Kiwi then DO NOT let your dawg wander off.  The dawg may not even try to hurt the kiwi but it could kill them.

Also, did you know that the Kea is one of the most intelligent birds there are?  They learn tricks very easily and always like to mingle with humans.  This is very cool because they are a native kiwi bird and to me, that is pretty cool.

Lastly, did you know that gorillas are vegetarians?  They eat a lot of vegetable's that is what makes them big and strong.  So little ones eat as many vegetables as possible.

In conclusion, the trip was pretty fun and we all had a great experience in Orana park.  I learnt a lot and I think that Orana park will be a great experience for young kids my age.  Have a great day and God Bless.

Clay Masters (Update)

As you may know, Sh and Ds have been working on art.  This art has been quite fun although I have struggled we got a little bit done.  My group and my I aren't the best at clay but we try.  This has been difficult for us but at least we tried.

As you can see we are not artists but we will persist:
In conclusion:
I would like to say that if you continue on you can finish off the work easily.  But it may not look good now but in the end, it will look amazing. Bye and have a great day.

Clay Masters

As I said before we are making stop motions using clay figures.  My group is concentrating on three main characters, homeless man, Little girl and finally the dad of the girl.  We were talking about the right colours to use.

We came up with the father wearing a pink T-Shirt so far.  We are still on the urge to do so much more but for the starting, I think that we are doing just fine.

The only thing that my group and I are struggling on is trying to make the figure big enough.  When we get that out of the way all that we need to focus on then is how much work we do in a certain amount of time.

This is my story on Manakitanga for our stop motion:

I went on a walk with my mum as usual because that is what we always do.  As we were walking we saw multiple homeless men with no food.  This made my skin crawl because I was used to houses with luxury.

My mother asked if I wanted ice cream, this does not usually happen so I was full of joy and was overwhelmed with joy.  I started hopping and jumping and even dancing to my favourite track in my head.  But she didn’t stop she said “son ice cream or help the homeless man.”

I then took a second to think, although I did not want to help him and selfishly have the ice cream I did not want my mum to see me as a bad person.  So I continued to think I then paused.

I knew that the right thing was to help the man because I know that I can get it another ice cream.  But he may not I gave him money.  I learnt that you need to share what you have or else you do not have true happiness.

Although I really wanted to have the Cookies ‘n’ cream with flaming hot Cheetos with pickled onion rings, I had to help the homeless man.  After saying this I have learnt that Manaakitanga made a change in another man's life.  So it's better to get something that lasts than a little ice cream.

Solutions to the chaos - Hurmanu

For Science Hurumanu, we watched a documentary, it was about climate change and what we can do to prevent anything from happening in the future.  He made a challenge between him and his daughter.  He went into different areas around the globe and research in things that are already happening.

For me, the one that stood out for me the most was renewable electricity.  They use a thing called solar energy that uses the sun to convert into electricity.  I really enjoyed electricity so I am going to tell you about there solution.

They said that they have a grid that connects all of there energy into one.  The place that wowed me the most was Bangladesh.  It basically meant that Bangladesh you are sharing energy.  This is a great way of renewable energy.  Imagine how much energy could be made with transparent windows that are solar-paneled.  This will start a new for the next generation to continue.

In conclusion, I have learned that there are new and useful ways to prevent some of the disasters that are happening.  That is all that I have to say hope you have learned something and bye.

To see how the water cycle works

First bag

Plastic bag 1x

Walter ½ cups of water

Food coloring 2x drops

Vivid 1x

Double-sided tape 2x

 ½ cups of water

½ spoon of baking powder

1x plastic bag

1x scissors

2x double-sided tape

½ cup of soda water

Steps

Draw the water cycle and then carefully pour the water and food coloring into your plastic bag  and then stick the double-sided tape on top and bottom the stick to a window with sun shining towards it

The second bag does the same thing as the first bag draw the water cycle on any sided of the plastic bag using your vivid do not use a whiteboard marker then carefully pour your soda water in to you bag then add your food coloring be very scrupulous because you don’t want any on you hands and clothes the use your litmus paper and stick it to a window that get a lot of the suns attention   then leave it there for 2 or 3 days and see the changes.

Conclusion

The first bag I think the water will just rise up and go back down and go in a water cycle round and round.
What I thought happened is the water will dry us and dissolve.

The second bag I thought the second day would dissolve into the white powder Or Turn into dust

But then the real outcome was the water just shrink and shrink even more Until nothing was in the bag.
