Spirituals and Harriet Tubman

Hello and welcome to my blog, in this blog post I will be discussing the history of Harriet Tubman and spirituals.  I will be working through what was significant about Harriet Tubman and what she did for the people.  But to start things off...

What are spirituals and what were they used for?  Spiritual was a form of songs sang by the African slaves used for Weddings, Funerals, and as a way to communicate to escape.  Now that I have given you a brief explanation I will tell you about a famous lady by the name of Harriet Tubman.

Why is Harriet Tubman famous? what for? Harriet Tubman was well known for her various escapes that she had performed for her family and friends.  When she was younger she got hit in the head with a metal object that permanently affected her mental state.  Now let's talk about a certain spiritual that I enjoy listening to...

This is the second verse of Jesus Leads Me All The Way:
All of the way my Savior leads me
And He cheers each winding path I tread
Gives me strength for every trial
And He feeds me with the living bread
And though my weary steps may falter
And my soul a-thirst may be
Gushing from a rock before me
As you can see in this they are giving themself a sense of hope, you can tell this by the lyrics sang "All of the ways Jesus leads me" and "Gives me strength in every trial.  This is simply because they are thanking him for his strength that he has lead upon them.  This song was probably sung whilst they were working to calm everyone down.
These events can still be significant to this day because these traumatizing events are still continuing to this day.  The people that do this are known as the KKK or the Kool Klux Klan.  These people still want the old ways to continue and think that all 'whites' are perfect.

Metaphors And Similies

In this post, I will be talking to you about the difference between a simile and a metaphor.  They are both a figure of speech.  I will then write you a couple of my own similies with scenarios. :)

What is a Metaphor?
A metaphor is when you state that something is something using the terms 'am' or 'are.'  For example, picture yourself doing a big tackle and you yell out "I am a beast."  That's you saying that you are something of which you are not.

What is a Similie
A simile is stating that you are like something.  Using the terms 'like' or 'as.'  For example, imagine you and your friend are swimming, he has the ability to swim in deep waters for a longer period of time you could say something like "You swim like a whale."  That is a simile because I said that he/she was like something that they are not.

To sum everything up metaphors and similies are different but close at the same time.  I hope that this improves your writing and that you can now use this figurative language in writing, song, or poem.  Have a good day and if you had enjoyed this please leave a comment. :)

Physical Or Chemical Change

 Hypothesis:

I think that there will be a chemical change due to the fact that the shall change into a dust-like substance.  Therefore my hypothesis is that it is a chemical change.

Equipment:

- Sample of ZnO (Zinc Oxide)
- Heat source ~ Hot plate
- Scales
- Heatproof container ~ evaporating dish
- Tongs
- Heatproof mat

Method:

1. Get a sample of ZnO in an evaporating dish
2. Weight the ZnO in the container, record the weight
3. Heat container and ZnO on a plate
4. Observe any changes ( Use the phone for before and after photos)
5. Take off heat and put on a heatproof mat
6. Let cool - observe - photos
7. Reweigh

Results: What happened? - Write your description

So what happened was the dust changed color.  This only happening because the heat off the hot plate changed the colour of the dust.  But it can change back to its original state.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, I have found out that if you heat up zinc ut gets lighter and changes colour for a short period of time.  If I were to do this again I would heat it up higher so that I can see what happens when the chemical is burning. Overall it was a physical change. :)
