Lemon Power

Lemon Power

Voltage:

Voltage is the pressure from an electrical circuit's power source that pushes charged electrons (current) through a conducting loop, enabling them to do work such as illuminating light. In brief, voltage = pressure, and it is measured in volts (V).

Current

An electric current is a flow of electric charge in a circuit. More specifically, the electric current is the rate of charge flow past a given point in an electric circuit. The charge can be negatively charged electrons or positive charge carriers including protons, positive ions or holes.

Aim:

To create voltage out of a lemon.

Method:

  • Roll the lemon out so the inside is liquidy
  • Stick a piece of zinc and copper into the lemon
  • Connect the lemon up to a voltmeter

Results:

Discussion:
When we rolled the lemon we made the inside liquidy.  We tried it with one lemon then we moved it to a whole bunch of lemons.  When we rolled it we made a whole lot of acidic acid inside the lemon.  This was then converted to a voltage.  When we connected all the lemons which made 2.3 voltage.

Conclusion:
This was fun and I had learnt how lemons have voltage.  This was a fun and different experience.  I would like to do this again and when I do I would want to try it with a different fruit.  To see which fruit has the most voltage. :)

Genre Research

Kia Ora and welcome to my blog, I will be showing the research that I have been doing for the past couple weeks.  We had to look and understand a certain genre and then present it to the classroom.  In our case we did R&B.  Here is my work:

ICT

Today I had learned about how to use formulas in Google Sheets.  I learned how to create equations by formulas.  As you can see at the top is my formula and that I have used the multiply symbol.  Here is the link to the site I have used.

The way I did the formula is by using the top and side of the sheet to add, multiply, divide and subtract.  So all you have to do is right one of these symbols. Add + , Subtract -, Divide/ and multiply *.  By using these codes you will be able to create your own equations.

The Lighthouse

Today I watched a short film about a lighthouse and its keeper.  After I had watched the video we were given questions. Here is the link to the video.

Has there been a time when you wanted to away from other people? Why did you feel like that?

I like to think of myself as a very calm individual and I do not get angry that many times or ever.  I get angry if I keep getting annoyed.  Like a cup of water if you keep filling the cup it will eventually overflow.  So if someone keeps annoying me my anger will keep building and eventually put me in an unsettling mood.  When I get put into this type of anger I want to be isolated from the people around so I can calm down.

Why do people want to be alone? Are they happy?

People want to be alone for a different range of reasons.  They may want to be alone because Reflecting, calming down, me time and so much more.  They can happy it really depends on their mood or the reason they want to be alone.  They could be happy to be alone to just appreciate things or they could be sad by being depressed.

What happened in his past that made him dislike bringing people around? Why does he live alone at the Lighthouse? How does he feel?  Create a backstory for the Lighthouse Keeper

It may not seem like it but John (The lighthouse keeper)  was once a social person.  He enjoyed the people around him.  He always thought of it as Him and his daughter against the world.  He was like this until his daughter got sick.  Her daughter was diagnosed with Humanity Diclosure Syndrome (Made up)  this is when she can't be around people.  People had been coming and visiting her in the hospital but little did they know that it really is making it worse.    But he didn't know about this until it was too late.  Once he had found out about this he was angry with everyone and blamed them for his daughter's death.  He then isolated himself from everyone.  So he permanently moved into the lighthouse to be away from everyone and to forever grieving over his daughter's death.

Can you be someones beacon of hope? (SLJ)

Kia Ora,  Welcome to my blog for this activity we had to research a charity.  We had these options SPCA, Aukland City Mission, Air Rescue and finally OXFAM.  I chose Aukland City Mission before I tell you about this let us ask ourselves this.

What is Charity?

Charity is an organization set up to help those in need.  They do all kinds of things they might make food for the homeless or fundraise for more buildings for the homeless and much more.  Charity basically means a group of people wanting to help those that are unfortunate.  They also expect no profit or nothing in return.

What does Aukland City Mission do?

Now that we know a little about what Charity means let's find out what Aukland City Mission does for those who are in need.  They do Crisis Services, Homeless Services, Elderly Services, Distribution Services, Drug and Alcohol Services and, Health Services.  But I will be focusing on the Homeless Services.  They help the homeless by giving them food and helping them with their Finacial issues and much more.

Thank you for reading my blog.  Before you do anything I would like to ask that you may do one thing to help out someone in need.  It can be as simple and dropping a coin into a tin or giving them some fresh food.  Thank you for your time.

Solar Energy - Hurumanu

Aim: To find out which color attracts the suns heat.

Hypothesis: I think that black attracts heat because sunlight does not reflect off it

Materials:

  1.  Tin Foil
  2.  Black Paper
  3.  White paper
  4.  Heater
  5. Water
  6. Thermometer
  7. cup

Steps

  1. Place the different materials evenly so the heat waves would be separated to heat all waters at once
  2. Cover the cups with the different papers  (etc Tin foil, Black Paper, White Paper)
  3.  On the heater to apply from that direction
  4.  Keep the thermometer on so you know what the recordings

Findings:

Time
Cup 1
White
Cup 2
Black
Cup 3
Tinfoil
0
161616
15
181917
30
212523
45
242625

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would like to say that I was intrigued to know what colour attracts the sunlight the most.  As my Hypothesis states I was correct.  Today I have proven the fact that black does indeed attract more sunlight or heat.

The Two Diary's

This is the photos I wrote about.
Every Friday most of the classes get together and do multiple things.  One of the tasks we do together is Creative Writing.  We had to write about the picture that was given to us.  Here is my story:

Diary 2019
It was the year 2019 when life was like a dream.  We had hard earnt money.  We also have different gadgets such as PlayStations, Flat screens, Laptops, iPhones, Samsungs and much more!  I lived in a small place in New Zealand called Akaroa.  It was a beautiful place with a heart-stopping view.  Light blue ocean and golden grass.  It creates a perfect view.  It was like a dream come true.

Diary 2029
It was the year 2029.  The world was best described as madness,  the population grew tremendously. There were people starving on the streets.  The government did not care at all,  his only interests were himself.  We worked day and night and still got nothing.  It was as God abandoned us and left our bodies to rot.  All that was beautiful became ugly.  The sun hadn't been seen since 2020.  It had been covered by clouds.  We had all forgotten what peace felt like.  It was a nightmare seeing children die from starvation.

Believing in yourself

This week we have been learning about converting decimals into percentages.  At first, I thought that this is going to be the hardest lesson to learn.  I thought that because I did not believe in myself.  I remember what my dad told me at the start of the week about perseverance before he left so I kept trying and I got it.  It feels as easy as pressing digits on a calculator.  Now I consider myself a pro at these. There are some many steps like moving the decimal point.  But in the end, I had learnt something so I would just like to say is keep trying. In order to get the easy part, you have to so the hard part first.
